1.The pictures include Milky,Shorty and petey and then a GIANT AFRICAN MILLIPEDE,RED MILLIPEDE,GIANT MILLIPEDE MUST READ UPDATE!! Shorty has died today when we opened his cage (A yogurt jar) he was cracked in half. It could have been an assassin we don't know. I will always miss Shorty! ):

Hi everybody! Me and my brother found 2 Millipedes about a week ago,and found another one today! I named my first Millipede "Milky" and my brother named his "Petey". The one we found today is named '"Shorty" because he is smaller than Milky and Petey. Shorty is a totally different kind Milky and Petey are smooth and Shorty is bumpy! Here are some facts about Millipedes: Millipedes are not insects but belong with the insects in the phylum arthropoda. All arthropods have bodys made of many parts or segments. They also have an Exoskeleton, wich is a hard covering on the outside of there bodies that function like a skeleton. Arthropod means jointed legs or appendages. Appendages of Anthropods may be modified for feeling, feeding , walking and sometimes swimming. Millipede means "Thousand Feet" but Millipedes have between 50 and 150 pairs of legs. Millipedes have antennae. Millipedes have a body that is divided into a head and a cylindrical or long tube-like trunk. The trunk is segmented. Adult millipedes have two pairs of legs attached to most body segments. Young adult millipedes have only a few pairs of legs. With each molt, additional segments and legs are added to the body until the millipede reaches maturity. Matching legs on each side of a millipede move together and many of its legs touch the ground at the same time. This movement of the legs enables the millipede to glide along smoothly. The legs can also help push the animal though rotting wood and soil. Millipedes have a number of ways to defend themselves. One way is to run and hide in narrow cracks or burrow into soil. Some kinds of millipedes coil into a spiral, and this way, the hard exoskeleton protects them from predators. Okay,I think that's enough facts to make anybody EXPLODE! Lol! Now,there are a few things I need to tell you,well there are the creatures that look A LOT like Millipedes,but are venomous. They are called Centipedes. DON'T PICK UP A CENTIPEDE! Do you want to know why? If you pick up a Centipede its legs will sting you!! THIS IS HOW YOU TELL A CENTIPEDE FROM A MILLIPEDE! To tell a Centipede from a Millipede all you have to do is look to see if it has whiskers on its butt!!! LOL! Like today,me and my brother saw a yellow Centipede. I actually was about to pick it up until I figured out it was not a Millipede! Also Centipedes are faster then Millipedes! That's another way to tell. WARNING DO NOT STEP ON A MILLIPEDE! IT WILL MAKE YOU GET SICK AND GET RED,INFECTED TOES!!! What Millipedes eat: A Millipede will eat Rotting Vegetables and fruit,and decaying plants. They also eat fresh vegetables and fruit. They prefer the rotting though.
